Hey glutenheads, wanted to update you on some stuff coming up.

First thing is we have a new song coming out on FEBRUARY 13 !!!!!!!!!!! A lilting and wobbly country tune with various existential ramblings from me and some gorgeous soaring harmonies from kylie. Also a bunch of twangy pedal steel licks from dear friend and honorary glutenhead Doug McBrien from Bent Neck and the Joints.

It’s called On My Mind, go presave it here please please please please!!! It just makes it so it’s automatically saved to your Spotify acct on release day so you don’t forget.

The photo is from a William Blake carving for his obscenely and excessively jubilant poem Laughing Song. Felt it was the perfect spiritual companion to On My Mind.

In other news, we’ve been hard at work on finishing the record after receiving that lump of money from the arcane, brutalist, and variously generous institution that is the Ontario Arts Council. We’re over half done!!!!! Then we gotta find a label to put it out with us….. not thinking about that right now though. Tunnel vision on finishing it up. It’s turning out just as we’d hoped - over the top and wild and emotional and weird and indulgent and sweet and above all NEW. I honestly haven’t heard anything similar.

We’ve got a few days booked in the studio with a very special guest producer who’s been a lifesaver for a few songs we were stuck on. He plays in a band I’ve been a big fan of for many years and he’s a musician I have monumental respect for, so I feel very privileged to be able to work with him (…….his band name rhymes with SUP……).

Last thing - I would love to rely less on instagram to get glutenhead updates and news out to people. it’s not good for anyone. will be trying to get as many People Who Care onto here as I can, so I can just talk to you directly. Anyway, here’s a lil treat for all u newsletter lovers. A not-finished rough mix of a very surprising song that’s going on the album, one which is quite different from the rest of it.
