Okay, I’ll put some more stuff here. Here’s what I wrote about it on Instagram:
If you’ve ever seen us live then you’ve heard our song How It Feels in one of the various forms it has taken. We played it at our first show and every show since, it’s stretched and condensed and quickened and slowed and warped and wrangled and jerked and jived. The song has lived many lives since it wrote itself through me in about 15 minutes in 2018, when I put a little bedroom version out as the first single from the original Glutenhead mixtape. The project back then was just me and a slow computer and an out-of-tune guitar and a longing to record strange music. Since then, Glutenhead has evolved into a band, a community, a living and breathing and willing and moving creature. Everytime we play it, the band transforms How It Feels into what it needs to be in that moment, and in the sessions for our eventual big ambitious album, we figured it just made sense to capture it as it was then, as a fully-fledged well-nourished SONG, all grown up. Playing it is always, putting it simply, so much fun, and recording it was no different. We feel like we captured the energy, the vibrance, the saturated and nostalgic euphoria that we feel when we play it. How It Feels will always be a very special song to us and the (Revisited) version is the DEFINITIVE recording of it. It’s also an example of what we’re about as a band, not holding anything back, pushing the music to where it needs to go, weirding conventional structures and cracking them open to make a little room for some divine light to creep in.
Alex Gamble did the engineeering and co-production and as always, he lovingly carried it from imaginal to manifest. No one gets what we’re trying to do with this band like him and he is always so down to roll with my hair-brained schemes. We’ve got lots more coming, 11 more.
Listen to the song until the end, it will be worth it. Play it LOUD and feel the WONDER and MELANCHOLY and AWE of being SO YOUNG!!!!!!!
lots of love forever!!
Another new one coming in the fall. This is what it sounds like:
